Martin Farrell House Renovation

Building on our ongoing relationship with Preservation of Affordable Housing (POAH), AltusWorks was retained to develop renovation drawings for the Martin Farrell House, a four-story senior housing building located in Chicago’s Woodlawn neighborhood. Originally constructed in 1990 and acquired by POAH in 2019, the 59-unit building required comprehensive interior renovations to improve comfort, aesthetics, and accessibility for residents. The scope of work also included reconfiguration of first-floor management offices, finish upgrades to community amenities, and enhancements to the building’s HVAC systems for improved functionality and sustainability.

Working in collaboration with POAH, AltusWorks developed concept plans and materials to support a Low-Income Housing Tax Credit application to the Illinois Housing Development Authority, followed by further development of the design documents for permitting and construction. AltusWorks also provided professional services for construction administration through project completion.
