Building Envelope Commissioning for Federal Courthouse Renovations
Midwest, locations in multiple statesAltusWorks provided professional services as the Building Envelope Commissioning Agent on a multi-discipline team for the renovation of nine Federal Buildings and U.S. Courthouses in the Great Lakes Region 5. The retro-commissioning services verified and documented compliance with GSA performance objectives, NIBS guidelines, sustainable design, and good construction practices throughout the various phases of each project. The nine major renovation projects varied in size and scale from $18.2M to $96.7M. Retro-commissioning of the envelope entailed reviewing critical systems such as air, vapor, moisture and thermal barrier systems, windows, roof and plaza systems, and a high performance, double wall, over-cladding system; identifying functional testing and quality assurance processes to be performed during construction, and witnessing functional testing to verify that systems and details were properly installed and were performing as intended.
