Metra Westmont Station Renovation
Westmont, IL
AltusWorks is serving as the architectural lead for the renovation of Metra’s Westmont Station, which includes design studies, contract documents, and guiding the Section 106 review process.
The redesigned station house will feature improved accessibility, including two new ADA-compliant restrooms, a modern waiting area, retail space, and upgraded mechanical systems. A major component of the project is the addition of new heated boarding platforms, part of Metra’s systemwide improvement program. The floor of the station house will be raised to accommodate the height of the new platforms, providing level accessibility between the platform and waiting room.
Additionally, AltusWorks has been providing guidance and recommendations for Section 106 compliance, and has collaborated with the team to develop concepts for creating grade separation with an underpass crossing for pedestrians and transit riders across the BNSF railroad tracks. AltusWorks is continuing to work closely with Metra and stakeholders as multiple options are being considered for future development.
