O’Rourke Building Adaptive Reuse

As the Historic Preservation Consultant, AltusWorks worked in collaboration with a multidisciplinary design team on the rehabilitation of the first floor of the historic O’Rourke Building to transform the abandoned warehouse into a LEED silver certified Multi-Modal Rail Station.   AltusWorks developed a Historic Structure Report that identified character defining features, quantified building conditions requiring repair, and recommended design considerations impacting the historic fabric in compliance with the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards.  The report will guide overall design decisions for the first floor adaptation as well as the redevelopment of the entire site. Rail Service between Chicago and the Quad Cities is likely to begin in 2016.
