LEED Consulting – School Building Expansions
Being intimately familiar with Chicago Public Building Commission (PBC) processes in the design and construction of new schools and additions for the Chicago Public Schools (CPS), AltusWorks was specifically selected by the General Contractor to provide LEED Consulting Services during two of its construction projects. Coordinating the efforts of the project’s Design LEED Consultant with the Construction reporting, AltusWorks facilitated the construction phase submission to the U.S. Green Building Council. The expertise and support AltusWorks provided for both of these projects contributes to PBC’s ongoing mission to enhance Chicago’s many communities with sustainable and functional educational facilities.
The first project, completed in 2015 at Coonley Elementary School, is a 35,300 square foot addition which successfully earned a LEED Silver rating by the U.S. Green Building Council. The second project, the new 3- story, 135,000 square foot Southwest Area Middle School in Chicago’s West Lawn neighborhood is tracking for LEED Silver anticipated for completion in 2017.
